Holston is an American painter and printmaker best known for his portrayals of the African American experience, using vivid colors and expressive lines in a cubist-abstractionist style with a career spans more than 50 years who grew up in the DC/Maryland area. Holston has a long and distinguished exhibition record, and has received critical acclaim for his paintings. His work is included in numerous private and public collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum; The Phillips Collection; the Baltimore Museum of Art.
